Does anyone out there want to help me out with some new turkey hunting spots in CA? The ones i have been using are getting full and running low on birds. I have tried my hand in the mountains around san diego with little bird sightings. The spot i use in the sonora area is a great spot but i believe the landowner is selling and i will be losing my access. Anyone looking for a hunting partner or have any suggestions for places to poke around? Thanks, hope to collaborate.

I live in the North State, 50 miles north of Sac. Quite a few turkeys around here and lots of no charge places to hunt them. A long haul from S.D. however. Let me know if you decide to give this area a go. Deer and hogs too.

What do you mean by no charge places? Do you hunt the national forest areas

State wildlife areas along the river bottoms and below the high water mark in areas adjacent to private land. Quite a few turkeys in the foothills of the Sierra and coast range also. Several large tracts of state land there too. I have seen several Merriams higher up in the Sierras but they are few and far between.
Actually, the golf courses around here have the highest concentration of turkeys anywhere.

Thank you for the replies! This could be the start of a CA turkey hunting group.
Ron I very well might be willing to make the drive up there to hunt with you if you would not mind me joining you. If not for turkeys this spring maybe for some hogs! Shoot me a pm and lets talk.

A group turkey hunt sounds like a good idea. As would deer, elk, hogs and antelope. I always list an AO deer tag as 2nd choice as it allows hunting in all the A,B and D zones. Was thinking of the B zone next to the Oregon border and the elk app in Modoc county.

Yo Ron & Group,  I'm located 90 miles east of Sacramento, and would be interested in joining in on a turkey hunt a little closer to home. Currently hunting about 7 hours away, a big commitment time wise. VERY interested in meeting up & hunting with fellow PBS'ers. I have a good bit of experience (30 yrs. of turkeys) but mostly all on one Ranch. In need of other opportunity areas. Weather is looking good for opener.

Kevin: I sent you an email about 6 months ago and didn't get a reply. Must be out there in electronic wonderland someplace. Anyway, I'm in the Yuba City area and know quite a few areas where there are turkeys. Let me know if you want to do some scouting around before the opener.
Blake: I don't think I would use the word "guide" ever. One of the guys here took his buddy fishing and showed him a few spots. Game warden checked them for a license and he said his buddy was "guiding him" instead of showing him around. Got fined for guiding without a license. Typical California.

Anybody have Arizona elk points? I'm planning on going next year and have 3 points. Usually 3 points is enough to draw, but I have drawn with zero. This is a cow hunt in an area where a bull tag takes 15 years or so to draw. Just a fun hunt in a spectacular area.
